The patient may also experience pain so severe that it can not be controlled with standard pain killers.  Also, as with the removal of any organic material from the body, there is a risk of the site becoming infected.  However, these possible complications are no more severe than any other possible complications associated with other removal procedures.

In summary, Rubber Band Ligation seems to be a safe, easy removal method for hemorrhoids.  It takes far less time for recovery than other methods and is much less expensive than surgical procedures.  Aside from the possible side effects associated with the procedure, which are no more severe or different than those risks that can be associated with traditional procedures, Rubber Band Ligation is a route to highly consider when trying to make the decision of how to have a hemorrhoid removed.
